Paul, Gill and their family owned a typical 4 bedroom family house in the village of Loddington for many years, being at the centre of the community and social events. They always felt that the generous garden had potential one day for their dream self build modern home and approached Leaf Architecture in 2013 for the design of their new home. The tapered boundary to one side of this plot gave rise to a ‘cranked’ footprint design where the central double height hallway permitted views straight to the rear garden with a living room and master bedroom block to the right and the cranked wing containing a fantastic open plan family kitchen, dining and seating space with 3 further double en-suited bedrooms over. The house was conceived as a super insulated timber frame, PV array and air source heat pump with combined energy bills less than £100 per month for a 3,000 sq ft home! Its been a delight working with Paul and his family and look forward to seeing the landscaping mature this year so we can look forward to the opportunity for some spectacular photographs.
