Leaf Architecture & Design Ltd was approached by the new owners of a Jaguar Car Showroom in North London to develop a suitable mixed use scheme for this tight urban location on Barnet High Street. Working with the client and planning consultant, we developed a design which created a large restaurant with basement occupying 2/3 of the ground floor footprint with the balance being taken up with a smaller retail unit. Above this we designed 6 high quality apartments in 2 1/2 storeys to compliment the scale of the urban setting but also having due respect for the conservation area in creating an external appearance which was modern yet of traditional proportions. The application was submitted and validated last month and we shall be monitoring progress closely through the consultation period.
