Working with the new owners of this beautiful art & crafts period house in Northamptonshire, the brief was to be extremely sensitive in terms of any new works however there was a requirement to remove unsightly late 20th century dormer window additions plus provide large open plan modern spaces for a large family. The solution as this image from the feasibility study shows was a two storey rear extension in a traditional style with wall hung clay tiles, salvaged brickwork and traditional joinery which removed a dormer window and provided new master bedroom accommodation and ground floor children living spaces whist at the centre and heart of the house we designed a contemporary single storey extension clad in clay wall tiles with a sedum green roof to blend into the landscape when viewed from the bedrooms above, the space angled to the principle lawn area with its opening surrounded in bronze cladding.Planning is due December 2017 and work hopefully to commence on site mid 2018.
