This is very much another ‘halo project’ for Leaf Architecture which secured planning permission for this contemporary black zinc and glass extension to a Grade II Georgian Farmhouse in Leicestershire. The existing kitchen was situated in the basement which was clearly not ideal and the family had no direct access to the garden. With discussions with the conservation officer at that time we developed a concept to push a simple extension into the rear bank of the front garden, partly concealing it but having a clear contrasting elevational style to the main three storey Georgian house and having the benefits of views over the re-landscaped gardens by Second Nature Gardens. The project was completed over a year ago and has taken time for the landscaping to be installed and matured but is so fundamental to how the new day spaces sit adjacent to the listed frontage and sit within the grounds…
