As architects we have the privilege in visiting many buildings over the course of our daily activities and in the last few months won a commission to design a modern addition to a listed building where previous agents failed to secure support but we are really pleased to have developed a design for a 400 year old listed cottage (see attached photo of engraved ceiling beam with date 1620) which now has planning officers support so looking forward to developing this with the owners. By contrast and some 4 centuries separating the buildings, we visited a property today which sits within a conservation area and locally listed due to its mid 20th century modernist design, a fascinating building of levels, double height light wells and oddly mixed with castellated roof parapet echoing some gothic influence! The house has incredible scope to be retained and enhanced in a modernist style that compliments the architectural period, we look forward to further discussions with its owners!!
