Leaf was delighted to head up a design team including renowned interior designers Heterachy to work with the owners Steve and Zahra to extensively refit the interior of their beautiful period property but also design a new large family kitchen, garden room and dining space to the rear. The design had to provide generous space for a new modern kitchen, seating area adjacent open fire and views of the garden, dining space with newly repositioned bootroom and larder which was clearly a new addition to the house but took architectural reference in terms of materials and scale from the period rear elevation. Where the extension abutted the house the scale of the building was keep vertically discreet and visually light as a stone and glass cloister, as the elevation extended outwards the side revelation adjacent to the main house was predominately finished in stone panels surrounding an 8m wide glazed sliding door elevation. The building expanded internally into an open vaulted well lite space with a contrasting zinc clad glazed gable overlooking open countryside to the rear. Planning permission was gained late 2014 with the hope to start on site after the construction detailing in spring 2015.
