Our client wanted to remove an existing single storey double garage to the side of the house and utilise this area of the plot to design a new two storey side extension incorporating a new garage and master suite but also uplift the rear elevation of the house and replace the existing kitchen conservatory space with a new open plan family kitchen/dining and garden room. The two storey extension was designed to compliment and be in keeping with the existing period and character of the main house where as the single storey garden room structure utilised clean rendered and parapet walls, wide glazed sliding doors onto the patio and a dramatic ‘slice of glass’ forming a continuous view of the garden and sky with zinc cladding wrapping the corner as can be seen from the stage 1 feasibility visuals.
